Welcomer to Zeppelins Good Eats! We are a brand new restaurant in historic downtown Wakefield, MI and our city is know as the gateway to the porcupine mountains, also the 4th of July fireworks capital of Michigan (held on the 3rd over Sunday Lake), the ski capital of the midwest and with rumors of hidden gold in the foothills as this was an area that made liquor for Al Capone during prohibition. Rumor has it the money was hidden to evade the Feds and Capones gangs during prohibition. Elliot Ness caught Al Capone at his hideout not far from here, ironically for tax evasion, sent straight to Alcatraz, and the prohibition ended which ended the notorious gang. Not many people knew of this, even people who have resided in the area for many, many years. Having first hand knowledge and proof this went on and the gold coins exist, the owner has connections to the past with his family name as being one of the first settlers in Wakefield over 115 years ago, and it surely has merit. He now lives in the house his great grandfather built 115 years ago…where rumor has it, Al Capone has been in a few times.
Back to present day, Zeppelins is 100 feet from the ATV and snowmobile trails, with plenty of on and off street parking (which includes the lot across the street) Easy for take out or eating in (we also have outdoor seating as well) the vibe and atmosphere is very well likened by everyone who frequents the place. Attention to detail with the walls, decor, ceilings, artwork and the famous live edge dining table, plays very well much into the menu and the way everything is made, placed and reserved. With pride on where it comes from and how it was made to begin with, there’s a great energy that rolls along the building and the people who come in.
We strive to make every customer number one and we make everything from scratch, also known as a scratch kitchen. We don’t make an abundance of food and freeze it, we make it fresh. We slice our own meats and cheeses, we chop our own vegetables and lettuce, we even make our own pickles and right on down to the salad dressings. Nothings premade and the owner has a passion for food and is himself is a foodie, with knowledge of many different regions that inhabits cultures with deep rooted ties to food and family, from many area’s of the globe, he learned the best of the best . Whether it’s a sauce, or a technique learned over many, many years of studying, it’s been incorporated into the fundamental basics of his cooking…and it starts with having respect for what gives us life, food. Even if it’s a sub sandwich, or a coney dog, it’ll be the best one made by anyone’s standards of quailty.

We make our own dough and our own sauce using san marzano tomatoes that are only grown at the bottom of Mount Vesuvius in Italy. We use locally sourced meats for toppings and a Wisconsin brick cheese that is a staple for Detroit style pizza. What’s not to like!
